Krautdog's Interview with Saves The Day
Interview with Multiple
Krautdog
The Warped Tour was in Dallas this weekend, and Saves the Day was on the Texas leg of the tour. Right after they played, I was able to get a chance to sit down with Chris and Ted. The interview was rather brief and choppy, but hey, I'd been standing out in the Dallas heat all day and I didn't have any questions prepared before hand. Here at Krautdog their CD, "Through Being Cool" rarely leaves the tape deck. They were cool enough to answer some of my questions, take a couple pictures and give a couple of high fives. Here's what they had to say:
Gavin: I thought that you handled that heckler very well. Is that like a scripted thing or was just a spontaneous response?
Chris: I've actually just started getting very vicious, actually. I usually am not that vicious, but now I just wanna rip their balls off. Fuck him, fuck them, fuck their fuckin' moms!
Gavin: You guys remind me of a couple bands, Guns-N-Roses...
Chris: That's awesome, their like my favorite band! Appetite is like my favorite album. I've never stopped listening to it.
Gavin: ...Pearl Jam...
Chris: Awesome! Versus is a tremendous album, Elderly Woman and Animal are incredible. Hey (to the other guys in the band) this guy says we remind him of Guns-N-Roses and Pearl Jam!
Gavin: What was the first CD you bought?
Chris: Aerosmith. Aerosmith Classic Live 2.
Gavin: What is your favorite movie?
Chris: Magnolia, P. T. Anderson is a genius. Maybe Wizard of Oz..
Gavin: What is your favorite book?
Chris: I am a ferocious reader. For Whom the Bell Tolls by Hemingway. I wept like a baby after that one. Independence Day by Richard Ford. Anything by Raymond Carver.
Gavin: Damn, I can't remember the first Carver story I read.
Chris: Maybe Cathedral?
Gavin: That was it! Definitely. Who are some of your major influences?
Chris: Definitely Carver. The way he wrote about love.
Gavin: Thanks, hey let's hear from him a little (pointing at Ted). How did this band get together? Ted: We went to high school together. I've known these guys since we went to camp when we were little.
Gavin: What is Saves the Day? What does it stand for?
Ted: Gosh, I don't know. There are just so many crappy band names out there.
Gavin: What do you consider to be the worst ones?
Ted: Well, the obvious ones are KoRn and Limp Bizkit. Chris: I mean KoRn with a "k" and a backwards "r."
Gavin: Thanks a lot guys, Good Luck and keep on the hecklers!
